Since the day MidiFighter 3D was launched. We have been working really hard to match its capabilities with our nanoPAD2's. As you already know we covered most of the controls available on MF3D to be emulated by nanoPAD. As seen from our earlier post blah blah Now we are thinking it to take a level further by expanding nanoPAD2's capability to control multiple parameters using the existing available controls. This can be easily done using software capabilities. We have been trying on various software to get this capability but according to us the best possible way to achieve this is using MAX/MSP for Live (M4L). We tried to work on a patch that would allow user to emulate nanoPAD2's XY pad to send four signals instead of just two thus to simulate MF3D motion signals for forward, backward, left and right. When we were first trying to port the Midi Fighter mapping onto nanoPAD2, we also thought of porting that mapping for users who do not have any midi controller at all. So our quest began with solely two purposes; First: How can we turn our keyboard into a MIDI device so that it can do all possible things that can be done via other midi controllers and Second: Porting a solid Traktor mapping onto keyboard to showcase the power of this thought. Love Ean Golden performing on his Midi Fighter, now you too can achieve the same magic on your nanoPAD2. Check out the layout and download the classic Midi Fighter mappings for your nanoPAD2 for free. Midi Fighter is an awesome controller, and the arcade buttons make it super easy to work with. But we don’t have one. Instead we have a nanoPAD2 which is also pretty good. Since Midi Fighter has 16 buttons and nanoPAD2 too has 16 buttons we thought of porting the midi fighter classic mapping onto the nanoPAD2. In our previous posts we discussed about the MIDI signals that a controller sends to Traktor, basics of controllerism, and finding what signal is sent by which button, slider or knob. In this post we will be talking it to the next level which is mapping the buttons/knobs/sliders/jog wheels of our controllers to custom Traktor functions. To show this we will map Jog Wheels to control Traktor Effects section, touching jog wheels will turn on all the three effects in Traktor FX section and rotating them in either direction will control the amount of those effects. This is the second post in the Ean Golden’s NI S2 tricks applied onto Numark Mixtrack article series. It will show you how to map your existing midi controller just like Ean Golden’s breaking the silence video. You’ll not only learn just the mapping but how to actually achieve same sounds as Ean did.
